About Norman Beauchemin

“All men by nature desire to know.”- Aristotle

Hello everyone, my name is Norman. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States a month after my birth. My French last name Beauchemin, which I have by virtue of my father, means beautiful road. I take that meaning to great importance, I think every journey someone takes in life can be a beautiful road with the right outlook and approach. I have lived in Massachusetts my entire life, and that has made me a New England Patriots fan. My first experience watching football was when I was 9, watching the 2014-2015 NFL season. Watching the Patriots come back down 14 twice against Baltimore, come back down 10 in the 4th quarter against Seattle and cap it off with the most shocking ending to a Super Bowl ever got me hooked to the sport. I immediately became very emotionally invested in football, playing the sport until High School and continuing to learn more about the nuances of the game through the events I watch on Sundays. Alongside my interest in sports is my interests in philosophy and history, which has had an influence on my methodological approach to how I view and analyze football and some of the themes I will feature in my works on Bring it to the Table.

One of my ambitions over the last year has been to be a writer on a sports platform, and Bring it to the Table has brought this ambition to reality. My main goal as a sports writer is to present thorough analysis of subject matter to my readers to improve their understanding of it, whether that be a player, team, coach, general manager or other mechanics and dynamics of the NFL. I want my readers to not only come away with new information, but a unique and nuanced perspective on NFL topics that challenges their own perspective. The sports world is currently dominated by hot take culture, which often lacks substantial analysis and is guided by the aim to propagate an agenda and generate a lot of interaction on social media more than to increase the knowledge base . I do think aspects of hot take culture is what makes conversing about sports so exciting, but I want to steer the direction of my content away from that norm which is a key motivation for displaying my talents on this platform. With that being said, I will make statements that are definitive in my Titles and in my projects, but with expansive explanations for why I believe them to be true. I hope my projects have the hook that catches someone’s eyes similar to a hot take on Twitter or TikTok with the information of a well researched and constructed article.
